My first impression on this plane:
Inviato: Gio Giu 19, 2008 7:37 am Oggetto: ________________________________________ The overall result is a bit too dark, IMHO, especially the grey overpainted area.
Secondly, the plane has unpainted underwings (i.e. natural metal) except for wingtips, flaps and ailerons which are in 76. So no white wingtips again, please!
Thirdly, where have you got the impression of a whole "grey" annular area under the codes? There is none such thing in any of the original prints I have...
Other than that, you missed the reversed first aid panel (i.e. mounted upside-down) and th spinner has some problems with the tip of a different hue (never been) and with the white spiral strangely split (I guess it is a transmission problem)
Sincerely _________________ Ferdinando 'veltro' D'Amico friend of 150° Gr. Aut. C.T. e-mail: Details of the nose: what you consider to be a "split" in the spiral (such an anomaly, before being taken for granted would need at least a second view, possibly from a different angle...) is nothing but the blade of the airscrew seen almost in profile!. Look at the curves and at the position of the other two blades... Concerning the difference in hue, it is a simple different refraction of the nose cap: frontal and other photographs shows no difference at all...
Detail of the fuselage: first of all you should tell me how can you assume that the area between the 3 and the 5 did extend under the fuselage... it is a pure and simple flight of fantasy... Secondly, that is nothing but an extension of the overspray mixing with the top colors. You can notice how it is far from being "straight", in fact the area next to the head of the man with the cap is clearly in 76. About the first-aid panel: are you serious? That area has been almost wholly oversprayed and you expect the Italian mechanics to take the time to mask the first-aid markings?
Last but not least. You are clearly working from bad quality reproductions, or at least not from the best around. So please, put your airbrush on the table and wait until I will post other ones.
Sorry to be plain and maybe not very diplomatic, but to see your painting talent wasted by the usual haste and need to "make ends meet" that profile-makers have, makes me mad (and I have known and worked with some of the best ones... same defects in all of them...!).
Documentation is the first issue. It is simply not possible (nor auspicable for one's own reputation) to realize serious profiles from one or two partial photographs.
End of the tirade... _________________ Ferdinando 'veltro' D'Amico friend of 150° Gr. Aut. C.T. e-mail:

Interessante nel testo a pagina 32, parlando della introduzione di questi colori da parte dello RLM si dice: " Unfortunately the RLM failed to identify the nature of color 81/82/83 either in descriptive terms or by color carts standards. The erliest known attempt to label these colors occurred late in November 1944 when Dorrnier company defined both 81 and 82 as Dark green: Three months later the Messerschmitt firm identified these two colors as Brown -Violet and Light Green (respectively81/82)..." Buona notte |
